Alku Chronicle - September 2024
It's nearly autumn here in the Pacific Northwest and with that comes the desire for cozy blankets and boots, warm tea and cocoa, and a really good book by a fire!
This month, the Alku Chronicle has a few new topics, and one of those is a section highlighting other indie authors, so make sure to check those out. Who knows, you may find your next favorite read.
First up, Keeper's Prophecy is ready!
Yup, the third and last book in The Final Keeper Trilogy will be released on October 30th on all the normal platforms. Along with that, a pre-order is up on Amazon (ebook), Campfire (ebook & extras), and on my site (physical+ty swag)!
If you haven't yet read the synopsis, you can check it out here to learn more. If you need to catch up with the first two books, use code KEEPERCATCHUP in my shop for 25% off the ebooks.
It's with mixed emotions that I publish this book. This story arc was my first toe-dip into the world of magic and the town of Alku. That said, Alku and its residents are not nearly finished telling their stories. I already have another 7 books written and another half a dozen more in the planning stage.
Don't forget the spin-off series coming in February. Earth, Beast, Metal follows a different group of characters from the magical world: a pair of mechanites, two paranams, and one elemental witch.
Let's hit the housekeeping!
ARCs for Keeper's Prophecy have been sent to those who have reviewed Keeper's Reign and Keeper's Secrets. I'm happy to say that I was able to put together 3 physical boxes and used a random number selector to pick recipients. Those chosen have been notified and should expect a tracking number early next week. For everyone else, I have not forgotten you! While I can't yet afford to send everyone a physical copy, I will be sending out a small thank you to those of you who provided addresses upon sign-up.
Don’t forget, if you’re not yet an ARC reader or know someone who would be interested, check out this blog post for more information about it.
Upcoming Events!
October 6th will be another Discord hang-out (likely still at noon PST)
October 18th - 20th is Stuff Your Kindle Day - Fantasy Edition and the Keeper’s Reign ebook will be FREE for those three days only via Amazon and Campfire.
October 30th Keeper’s Prophecy is released on most major platforms!
New Merch ALERT!
This month, I want to highlight my newest go-to sweatshirt. The fabric is light and soft, and I love how long it is. The front is embroidered with "Chronicles from Alku," and the back has a screen-printed quote from the First Keeper from the third book. It's written in the unification script that transcends time, planes, and species. Check out the listing to see what it says. You can find a character key here if you want to see more.
Uplifting Others - Author spotlights!
This month, I want to highlight a book that was released in August. Go for the Climate is part of a multi-author series called The Carnival of Mysteries, and it is the second book by Ander C. Lark. Go for the Company was released in 2023 and followed the hilarious tale of Gabe Rossi, who was forced to visit hell a bit early… Book 2 follows his younger brother, Zeke, and how he also finds himself in Hell temporarily, but Hell turns out to be better than up on Earth.
Ander’s writing is witty, intelligent, and heartbreaking. I warn you, this book will rip you open and rip out your heart. Then, it will dust it off and fix you right up.
There are absolutely trigger warnings for this book, as child abuse, sexual exploitation of a minor, and explicit language are the backbone of Zeke’s trials, as his parents are leaders of a corrupt megachurch.
You can also find additional information in one of the Uplifting Others Blog posts.
Suggested Newsletters
One of the best parts about the indie author community is the support. It’s truly a field of “we’re not competition, just each other’s cheerleaders.” So, this month, I have two spotlights I’d like to do for other rad authors, bloggers, and book-adjacent folks.
Book Mystic News
First is the BookMysticNews newsletter. You can sign up here and find book suggestions, author spotlights, ARC sign-ups, and more. You can find the blog author on threads as well.
Alex Perez
The second is Alex Perez’s WordPress, which you can find here. I have a section on the Indie Author Spotlight page a bit of a scroll down as well. I’d also suggest that you follow and check out the author’s books, specifically Bride to the Fox Demon. You can find the author on threads.
